11/20/09

Nothing is really new this week. Hunting started a little bit ago, and one of my friends got a deer. He asked me if I wanted to help cut it up, and I said yes. I have never helped cut up a deer before, when my dad and I went hunging we would take the deer somewhere to be processed and they would skin it and cut it up.

I got to my friends house, his friend came and helped cut up the deer too, and he was shocked that I was helping. he said that he has never seen a girl want to help cut up something with blood. I'm always up for trying new things, and this was new.

We first started by cutting up the front legs, which wernt hard, but the knifes were really dull, so it was difficult at first, but then my friend went and got a sharpner. It was really cool to see how the different muscles fit together. Im in a A and P class, and we had a unit on muscles and what way they move to body, also we had a unit on bones and how the muscles us bones for support and also for movement, and it was just really cool to be able to hold this leg and move it and watch the muscles move.

This week was about the same as last week. I really dont do anything besides work and go to school during the week and then weekends I work even more. It is really hard right now trying to balance time with friends, school, and work, because when I'm not doing one of those things I'm sleeping or trying to keep up with my laundry. Being a college student who travels every day to school, being a manager at work, and trying to get school work done, and find time to do everything else is hard. I know that it is going to be like this when I get older and have a full time job, but right now I think it is extra hard.

A lot of my friends are getting to the age where all they want to do is drink, or party, and that isn't me. I like to just hangout and listen to music, or go to a camp fire, but drinking isn't my thing. So with that being said it is hard to hangout with my friends when that's all they want to do. I find myself staying at home more with my mom and watching movies, which is actually fun.

My mom is probably one of my best friends. We go out to eat a lot, watch movies, go shopping, and it is fun! I would strongly encourage everyone to talk to their mothers, and fathers more, because they can really surprise you, at least my parents surprise me.

It was a really long week this week. I was called into work on Wednesday, and I normally don't work Wednesday. That day I got up at 5:45 a.m. because I had class at 8, then I had to wait until 3:40 for my next class to start. I would normally sleep in my car for a bit, but my friend decided that she wanted to go to the mall and shop for a bit. So we went to the mall and she bought a few things, but I wasn't in the mood to shop, I was soo tired. After we got back to school from the mall, my friend had class and I went to my car to sleep for an hour before I went to study for class. I drive and Eclipse, a little 2 door sports car, and the back set isn't really that big, but I hopped in the back, curled up with a blanket and took a nap. On Monday's and Wednesday's I have long brakes between classes, and I normally try and take a nap so that way I wont fall asleep on my drive home to Winona at 6 at night.

That week was also the anniversary of the 2008 election, the first election that I was able to vote in. I was really happy that I got a chance to vote that year. Many people have strong opinion's about politics, I do not like to get into discussions with people about politics because I do not like to be put into a categories for believing one thing or another. I believe in what I believe.

What to write about.. well Halloween was fun, well at least it was kinda fun. I had to open that day at work at 7, then I worked to 5 in the after noon. needless to say it was a long day. After work I went home and slept for an hour or so, then I got ready for the night. Some of my friends dressed up as the Mario brothers, one was the devil, an angel, a dead Michael Jackson (that was the best costume by far). A bunch of us normally hangout up at my friends house in his barn, so that is where we went for the night. It was really cold, but luckily he had a heater that he brought out so it wasn't that bad.

Some of my friends decided to start drinking so that was when I thought it was best to leave. So I went home and went to bed. Over all it was a fun night, but I was really tired the whole time, and I had to close the next night at work and I needed some well deserved sleep.

This past weekend wasn't the eventful, I worked my normal 7 A.M. to 5 shift on Saturday, then hung out with some friends. Sunday afternoon I watched some football, then later that night I worked again. On Wednesday when I was sitting in my kitchen, I looked over at the other counter and saw a card. So I went over and looked at it, and it was my moms card from my dad for their 22 wedding anniversary that was Saturday. I felt like the worst child in the world. I had forgotten my parents anniversary, and the asked me that day if I wanted to go to eat with them that night and I told them I was going to hangout with friends instead. I felt horrible!! I couldn't believe that I forgot their anniversary. I told my mom I was the worst daughter ever and I gave her a hug and told her I was sorry, she said it was fine, but I knew it wasn't. I will never forget October 17Th again!
My family had a surprise visit from my uncle who lives in Texas last night. He called my mom when he was in Illinois saying that he would be in town in a few hours and was wondering if it was alright if he stopped by for a visit. How were we suppose to say no? I got home from class and cleaned up my bathroom a little bit, because the guest room is right next to mine, and we made sure everything looked good for his arrival. The only problem with his arrival was I had to work last night from 3:30-11 managing, and I wasn't going to be able to find someone to cover for me, because I was covering for the other manager. When I finally got home at 11:30 my dad, mom, and uncle were still up talking, and they were waiting for me to get home so we could all visit. I felt bad that I couldn't get home sooner to see him.

This post was suppose to be from the week of the 16Th. Again I apologize that they were late.

This past week I haven't really done anything exciting, but if you haven't look at my profile, I'm really into sports. With that being said, I am a HUGE Twins fan! I've been to the Twins Caravan the past few years, and I have pictures with some of the players, and a picture with Bert Blyleven. They are my favorite team and I love watching them. I even got my mom into them, she watches almost every game she can, and she now understands a lot about the sport. Well I was extremely excited when the Twins won the AL (American League) Central. They played game 163 against the Chicago White Sox for the Central title. They ended up winning against the White Sox! Their next game was against the Yankees in NY. I was working that day (Friday the 9Th) and after work I went to a local sports bar with a couple of my co-workers to watch some of the game. I had a lot of fun watching the game with them, but once they decided to go to a actual bar, I went home to watch the rest with my mom. It was a very intense game, which they ended up losing. :( I love the Twins but this past season they never won a game against the Yankees in the regular season, so I wasn't going to get my hopes up that they could beat them, and keep going in the post season. Even though they didn't win doesn't mean I'm going to stop watching them. GO TWINS!
I'm also into Football. I'm participating in my first Fantasy League this year with my co-workers. I didn't have the chance to watch many games last year because I worked on Sundays when the games were on, but this year I made sure I had Sundays off. Well so far in Fantasy I am 5-0! I have the best record for me league! People were doubting me, especially the guys I work with. But now they are scared, because I keep winning. I think it is funny because my bosses are in the league and I have beet both of them, and they kept telling me that I was going to lose to them, but I haven't!
Alright so I finally got this figured out! This post was supposed to be from the week of the 9Th.

So this past week end I had the opportunity to go duck hunting with one of my friends. I went on Sunday the 3rd for my first time and, Oh boy was it interesting. I got up really early, about 3 A.M. and got ready to meet my friend at his place. We met up with his dad at the meeting spot and got into a canoe and found a good spot to sit and wait for the birds. At one point we had to get out and walk through the water, and me being clumsy, I decided I should go for a little swim, and I feel in. I started to laugh, my friend was laughing, and his dad came and pulled me out, while laughing. From that point on, I was freezing, and I had no extra clothes to put on. Only my coat go wet because I was wearing waders that kept my legs from getting wet. My friend on the other hand wasn't so lucky. He has a very small cut in his waders and his pants were soaking wet, both his socks were wet and when he dumped his boots out, I thought that a fish was going to fall out because there was so much water in them. I was having a lot of fun while I was out with them.

So my computer hasn't let me post any of my blogs that I have written... I apologize. I'm going to try and get them up as soon as possible.

This past summer has been interesting for me. I went to the ER twice, and this past weekend I had an ember fly into my eye at a campfire. The first time I went to the hospital was because I got hit in the arm by a softball. I was pitching for my friends co-ed team because I was the only one who has played softball before. Well I pitched to my friend Owen and he hit the ball right back at me and hit me right in the elbow. I could barley move it and it hurt really bad. My friend took me to the ER where I had X-Rays taken. Luckily it wasn't broken, because I was on 2 other softball teams and I couldn't afford to miss any games. About 6 or so weeks later I was at work and I was cleaning the meat slicer and I cut the tip of my finger off. Blood was ever where, my boss didn't believe that I hurt myself, and there were people in the lobby. I was managing but my boss stayed to do his paperwork, and luckily he was there to help me. My co-worker took me to the ER where the same doctor, who helped me with my elbow, helped me with my cut finger. My finger was cauterized and glued in order for it to stop bleeding. While I was in the room my mom said that I normally get hurt in groups of 3 so we would probably be back to some doctor within the next 6-8 weeks. Well I got the ember in my eye on Saturday the 26Th and that Monday, the 21st, was 6 weeks after I was at the hospital for my finger. I went to the eye doctor on Monday the 28Th to make sure that nothing was wrong with my eye. The 28Th was exactly 7 weeks after I cut my finger, so my mom was right. Sometimes I'm not the most coordinated person, I tend to hurt myself often, and my mother is going to put me into a bubble in order for me to not get hurt again. I still have a scar from cutting my finger, and I have pictures if anyone wants to see them!

So far this semester has been good. I like my classes so far, and while being in them, they all seem to intertwine some how. We'll be talking about something in my Race class and then I'll hear something that we have talked about in my ethics class. It helps to talk about things more than once so that it can actually sink in. I'm finding it is getting harder and harder to go to bed early to get up for my 8 and 9 o'clock classes. I work the latest until 11 and then I have to go home a do homework still, and it is starting to take its toll on my sleeping habits.

The weekend was much better though. I had to watch 2 dogs for my dads business partner. They are German Short Hair Pointers, and they are the best dogs ever. Their names are Brook and Jade. Brook is very old and can barely move, and Jade is young and runs circles around Brook. The dogs are hunting dogs, and while I was walking Brook she stopped and went into point position because she saw a bird in the tree. It was so funny, I tied so hard to move her, but she wouldn't move. Finally after about 2-3 minutes of this the bird finally left and she started to walk with me again. While this was happening Jade was just running around, and bringing me sticks to throw for her. The only down side of watching these dogs is that I have to let them out at 6 in the morning. On Saturdays I work at 7, so I have to get up extremely early to shower, let the dogs out, then go to work. But it is all worth it in the end.

New Year

I would first like to say that this is my first Blog post and I honestly have no idea what to write about. This is a new year of college and I am taking 4 classes, one of which doesn't start until the end of October. I'm a little stressed about managing school, work, friends, family, and having a social life. So far it has been okay, but trying to make all of my friends happy and helping my parents, getting to school on time, and working is starting to get old and fast. I'm from Winona and I go to school in La Crosse, it's about a 30 minute drive from my house and I have to get up early to get to class on time. I have a few classes that start at 8 and a class that starts at 9 and getting up at 6 and 7 is hard some mornings, especially when I manage at work and don't leave some nights until 11 and have homework to do for the next day.

I've only been in school for a few weeks now, and so far I enjoy my classes. Right now I'm taking Intro to Ethics Theory and Application, Written Communications, and Race & Ethnic Diversity. My favorite class so far is Race & Ethnic Diversity. I've only had the class a couple of days but as of right now I believe that it is going to have the most arguments and discussions in it. Which for me personally it should be interesting because I'm not the type of person to get into arguing matches to prove my point. I'm taking another class but it doesn't start until late October. I didn't find out until the first day of classes, but I was prepared to go to class that day.

Most recently I took part in my first NFL Fantasy Draft. I like football and one of my co-workers set up a draft and asked if I wanted to be apart of it. I said yes, and then on Wednesday night 2 of my co-workers and myself set up our computers at work and drafted our teams. All the people that took part in the draft are people that I work with. At the end of the draft my co-workers said that I have a pretty good team and that I should be happy with my picks. Last season I wasn't able to watch many games because I worked every Sunday when the games took place, so trying to pick good players was very interesting. I had a couple of different magazines to help me, but they weren't that much help. Both of my co-workers said that they would help me pick players, and they did. At the end of the night, 11:30 pm, they asked me if I had a good time and I did. It was a rush trying to figure out who I wanted on my team, and trying to figure it out in a minute and a half was fun. I'm hoping that I don't lose that many games, but if I do, it was my first draft and I'm okay with losing. My only hope is that I don't lose the entire draft.
